Trex Company's New Nevada Plant Ahead of Schedule
The Company is currently on track to begin shipping product from
two additional new lines in the Fernley facility in the first quarter
of 2000. Additionally, machinery has been ordered for the fifth and
sixth lines and management anticipates these lines will be ready to
run by the fall of 2000.
Robert Matheny, President of the Trex Company, stated, "We are
providing the necessary resources to satisfy the explosive growth in
the demand for Trex. The first saleable product was produced July
19th, two months ahead of schedule. Production rates in August have
been outstanding and we are running well ahead of forecast at the new
plant."
Doug Hart, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Ore Pac
Building Products, a Trex distributor, commented, "Having a Trex plant
on the West Coast provides major benefits in both service and reduced
freight and handling costs. We can service the entire West Coast out
of Fernley by truck in under 48 hours whereas rail cars from the east
have been taking 4-8 weeks to reach us. The Trex product out of the
Fernley plant looks great. It is the same high quality that we have
become accustomed to receiving from Trex's Winchester plant."
- David Jordan Promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering -
Trex also announced that the Company has promoted David Jordan to
Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering. Mr. Jordan is
responsible for Trex's manufacturing and engineering and has managed
the Fernley Nevada venture.
Concerning Dave Jordan's promotion, Robert Matheny commented,
"Dave has done a tremendous job in getting the Fernley plant up and
running. It took only nine months to go from a green field site to a
fully operational plant. During this time we completed the design
phase, secured the required permits, constructed the facility, hired
and trained the workforce and installed and debugged the equipment."
