Trex Company Announces Licensing Partnership with Dri-Deck
Enterprises, LLC
Trex(R) RainEscape(R) Deck Drainage System Expands Outdoor Living Space, Adds Value
WINCHESTER, Va., Mar 01, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- TrexCompany announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Colorado-based Dri-Deck Enterprises, LLC, to develop and market an above joist deck drainage system called Trex(R) RainEscape(R). The system creates a dry space beneath the deck that is suitable for the installation of deck lighting, ceiling fans and finished ceilings and represents a significant new potential growth driver for the nation's largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking, railing and fencing products.

Unlike competitive products - which make use of "under joist" technology - Trex RainEscape shields the joists, protecting them from water damage and deterioration that may occur over time, while also creating additional usable outdoor living space below the deck. In addition to being competitively priced, the system will be easy and efficient to install - making it an ideal solution for both contractors and do-it-yourselfers.

"This partnership both complements our core business and will strategically expand the Trex(R) brand into the deck drainage system category, which is expected to see considerable growth over the next several years," said Ron Kaplan, President and CEO of Trex. "As the industry leader, we feel confident that Trex can drive overall consumer awareness and penetration of this category - and we're excited to provide our channel partners with another practical and profitable accessory that they can package with the sale of a Trex decking and railing project."

The Trex RainEscape system includes just five SKUs - a 16' and 12' drainage trough sheet, a down spout, butyl waterproof caulk and 4"x50' butyl waterproof tape - requiring minimal inventory space and making it easy and inexpensive for dealers to stock. In addition, only three tools - scissors or a utility knife, a staple gun hammer and a caulk gun - are required for installation.

"We believe our patented system design combined with the power of the Trex brand will create a winning product that can capture a major share of a rapidly growing category," said Ken Ready, owner of Dri-Deck Enterprises. "The Trex name is synonymous with high-quality, low-maintenance outdoor living - and we're proud to partner with them to launch a truly innovative product."

Trex RainEscape is expected to be available at retail in April of this year.

About Dri-Deck Enterprises

Dri-Deck Enterprises has developed the deck drainage system of choice for most Americans. Because of its unique design it protects the floor joists from the future rotting that can occur with most other under joist type systems. Built with the homeowner in mind, it is easy to install and provides for upgrades to the entire "outdoor living environment" by creating space for installation of recessed lighting, speakers for an entertainment system and ceiling fans. Another unique feature of the new Trex RainEscape system is that the homeowner can choose the finished look of their outdoor living environment by adding the soffit/ceiling of their choice.
